Auto-Gratuity feature in Clover Dining
Clover Dining needs an option to automatically add a gratuity to tables of set number of guests. This is a VERY common feature on restaurant POS systems and may end up losing potential clients.
This feature needs to be able to be turned on and off (manager permission) as well.

For auto grat, where a discount is applied, we need the auto grat to be on the pre-discounted amount. no matter when it's added, it converts to the discounted total, instead of original amount

THIS IS A VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE THAT WE NEED ON OUR CLOVER POS ASAP.

The comment thread is still confusing.
I did not know some states require "mandatory gratuity" or service charges to be taxed.
But the Service Charge option will not satisfy the tip issue going to a particular server. The Service Charge looks like a revenue item for the restaurant, NOT a tip for the server. So at the end of shift, the server will not see this in their tip report and not know how much to take out. The manager has to look for the Service Charge fees in a Report, then find the server for that table, then issue a Payout in the Open Drawer function.

Need to have an auto gratuity button or at least have more than 1 option under additional charges. We want to do an auto grat tables of 6 or more and also start charging a % on TOGO orders!

Auto gratuity is needed. Defined as: a button, used primarily at full service dine-in establishments, that can be checked and will add the pre-defined percentage to a given check. This amount should be able to be added at any point in the customer dine-in ordering experience up until the first check may be closed (if split checks). (Ideally, the auto gratuity feature would still calculate even if a one of several split checks in a given party were to close out, but let's just at least get the basic function as first described above.). The auto gratuity will is not added to "revenue" it is a type of "service fee". Would be nice to have a 'manager approval' option to this function. Whu hasn't this been done? Am I missing something. Let me know.

An Auto Grat IS a service charge. IRS does not care what you call it. IT IS revenue. Giving it to employees is your option (expense to offset revenue). Seriously people. Learn tax code or get a CPA.

No reason that this feature is not associated with the number of guests at a table.

When in your Clover Dashboard, left column under "Setup"...select "Additional Charges" and this is where you can set up your autogratuity.

No reason that an Auto gratuity is not added to a full service restaurant application

Also, should have the option for the gratuity to be taxed. A separate line item on receipts and column on reports. In some states, including California, owners have to charge customer sales tax on a mandatory gratuity.

This can be done now by using the service charge feature. It is treated separately from tips because the IRS mandates that employers withhold payroll taxes from forced gratuity.
