Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

8. Other Management Suggestions: Place your idea here if you have feedback that does not fit in any of the other forum categories.

  1. When a menu item is out of stock, Clover Dining does not give the option to remove the ability for a server to continue ordering that item.
    Servers can still place the order causing many issues. Also, quantity on hand is not updated until an item is paid for - this does not help the issue when orders are held in the saved/orders app until a table is paid. This has caused many lost sales as we are a reseller for Clover

  2. It would be great to have the ability to set the "Order Type" default per device.

    For example. The Clover Station in the bar defaults to "Dine-In" while a Clover Flex is used outside for Curbside orders without having the user have to change the order type on the Non-Table Order or the Register App each time an order is done.

    This would allow flexiblity to have some Flex Units default to "Curbside" or "Special Event" if they are used for outside catering.

  4. One menu item can have various prices base on where it gets ordered. If it gets ordered from Chownow, it may have different price than ordering directly to restaurant. Each menu item can have price#1, price#2, price#3, .... price#10. When this item maps to different menu, we can see which price we want to use on that menu. This way, we don't need to duplicate the same menu for each 3rd party vendor and easy to maintain in the future. Just open the menu item and you can see/modify all prices.

  5. I inadvertently added a wrong item (i.e. a dinner portion rather than lunch) and fired it. We verbally corrected the item with the kitchen, and I deleted the item and re-rang it WITHOUT FIRING. However when I hit Pay at the end of the meal, it automatically fired that item and kitchen made it again.

  6. Network isue or any other issue when kitchen printer is offline and order is not printed in the kitchen. Notify on the main screen so that it is easier to identify issue. Right now notification is on notification bar which is easily missed.

  7. We used Smile POS previously and decided to switch over to Clover because we are able to take payment directly at the table and front door (COVID-19) idea. But since using Clover over the past 2 weeks there are so many moe options from Smile that am finding that I miss. The ability to move single items between tables, holding items button, being able to split a check once the order was created and print the bill for each person to see prior to payment.. Im sure Im gonna have more so Ill need to come back here and post…

  8. My restaurant has Dine-In (default), To-Go, and Delivery order types. When making non-table order, we some times forget to select "To-Go" order types and the kitchen will mess up customer orders. This happens a lot because the server had already selected To-Go non-table order.

  9. The merchant is using the Clover Dining App . The merchant is unable to split Clover Rewards points on the table to each customer. They can only reward the entire table when paying out the order. The merchant was able to use this functionally in the tables app. The merchant needs this to be added to the Dining app.

  10. Requesting the ability to use Clover Dining in Cashier mode. This would allow a cashier to collect payments for the servers and subtract the credit card tips from the "cash due" in the Payments report.

  11. When selecting Modifiers, Clover needs to be able to add a "Add, hold, or swap" button.
    I am working on getting my menu into Clover, but am used to Aloha, Cake and Toast. Each of these competitors have this ability, and I am shocked that Clover cannot do it.
    What I am left with is to double or triple the size of my modifier group which will drastically complicate my menu. Please help! I feel like this is a simple change that will make a huge difference!

  13. Merchant would love an option to void an order once it has been fired to the kitchen, as they encounter issues from time to time with items in an order that need to be removed from the records

  16. Can you make a Permission under inventory that allows select employees to 86 and items, with out giving them access to the entire inventory app. I do not want them to edit prices, just availability.

  17. Recently I cant see which server has opened a table. Neither can the server. Causing the wrong tables to closed out. Told to edit the floor plan and make the tables larger. our floor plan wont allow for us to make the tables any bigger than they already are. Tech support is blaming the latest update. Can you please fix.

  18. I am a new Clover subscriber and while I am trying to set up a menu on the dashboard I was told I could not add item variant on dashboard but have to do it on the device. Isn't dashboard the most convenient place to edit and manage things while with the touch screen you do not even have a key board to type? Made me wonder are there more ridiculous design of the software of Clover.......

  20. The Happy Hour App recently changed so now you can select items. However now if you want the entire category you have to go in and select ever item if you add a new item you have to go in to every happy hour special with that item you need to discount and select it. the option to do category or item would be great.
