Restaurant Menu on Station should have Category and Sub-Category
Restaurant menu should have category and subcategory. For example
Category is Breakfast menu and Omeletsis a subcategory. Is helpful for restaurant with large menu and it help the waiter to easily find and prepare an order. Also if a Main Category is no longer offered i.e. Breakfast is only till 11:00 am it should not show the menu anymore. Many places if u buy breakfast after 11:00 then the price is different.
This is a feature that is being prioritized for our 2024 roadmap.

This is very important for restaurants that would love to offer combos.
On the menu options, can you please enable a Sub Category Option which would allow restaurants the ability to add multiple Sub Categories within a defined Category.
Ideally, the options would look like this: Category > Sub Category > Items > Modifier Group > Modifier.
For Example: If the Main Category is Breakfast, the Sub Categories might be Eggs, Omelettes, Pancakes, Waffles, etc. The respective Items could them be added within each Sub-Category.

Do we have an update on this?

Merchants have been requesting this for almost 6 years within Clover Support. Multiple updates have been made to Clover's inventory since. Is there any update on when Clover will push this simple feature?

A must have!

Very important. All competitors have this.

Many full service restaurants have large menus with MANY categories or they have the same item in their dinner and lunch menu but at different prices and/or portions. In clover, this results in FAR too many categories for a server to easily navigate. It would be great to have another layer of "sub-categorization" in the Clover Inventory. This can be to identify meal period (breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) or to separate out a bar menu from a food menu. I've lost many merchants to Toast for this specific feature.

Please make this happen.

Would like to have sub categories, cost of modifiers and items with variants show as separate items.
very much needed, the menu needs more "layers"

Has Clover even acknowledged this thread yet?
Please add Sub-Category functionality ASAP, merchant continuously leave because of this.
For example, hair color product has 3 different type,
Permanent color product, Semi-Permanent color product, and Temporary color product.
2nd example, Styling product has sub-catagories
hair gel, hair spray, wax & pomade

i have over 20 merchants that i have not been able to sign up because clover does not have a subcategory. please include this function as soon as possble. As there are many POS SYSTEM that have subcategory.

The high category does not need to have any functionality behind it. Just the ability to customer button on the top of the screen and be able to assign category to them.

I've just got clover and finding it impossible to manage without having subcategories, please sort this as quickly as possible!
literally nothing has more votes than this request... implement it. 3 years later and people are still requesting it, at least provide some feedback so that we can feel like we're actually heard.
Are there any moderators here? Can you let us know if this is being worked on, it has 130 votes! Its absolutely necessary, I'm about to return my Clover station...
On top of that, the bulk import instructions say that nested/tiered categories are a thing. Update that cause you're lying. I thought at first that someone jumped the gun and posted a sneak peak, but that instruction has been there at least since November 2018 since @Aaron mentioned it below.
Merchant would like a Master Category that links other categories beneath it. Such a Alcohol and then have sub categories of liquor, beer, wine, etc.

This is becoming more necessary. As the below comments stated, even Square has this capability. The only option we have right now to do this is the SEED Digital Menu app that looks great, but doesn't function well with Clover and for handhelds they only can use Mobiles, and the old operating systems on those continues to crash when in use. My clients love Clover Dining but with a large bar and restaurant menu, sub-categories are a must. I have lost clients due to this and have other clients that are frustrated and having to deal with the longer process of menu selection especially on drinks.
