Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. Have an option in the inventory screen, when adding new items, to be able to print a barcode label from Easy Labels. This is essential when new items come in that don’t have barcodes on them. Also, be able to assign a barcode to an item that has no barcodes in the inventory screen.

  2. An alert message should be changed for employees who don't have access to inventory while scanning items. Currently if an item is not in inventory and an employee scans it who doesn't have access to add items into inventory, Clover scanner beeps as if it was a normal item entered in inventory, briefly displays a discreet message which almost blends into the background of the Clover display, and allows the clerk to continue scanning other items. We have had numerous instances where the clerk doesn't realize something didn't scan and therefore we are giving away free product. It should be…

  3. In the items section the width of the columns should be able to adjusted. Some items that have longer names get cut off.
    When searching for an item in the register app could there be a way to sort the items in the search by price (highest to lowest or vice versa)

  4. When an order is placed that is transferred to a different server the order gets fired a second time which causes confusion in the kitchen during busy periods.

  6. you should be able to use modifiers and items without having to use to many categories, modifiers and items. too much red tape. and to time consuming.

  7. Hello,

    I wanted to know if you can add a expiry option where products are added. I have a retail store For A Dollar Plus in Lititz Pennsylvania, and have over 5,000 items, and probably 2,500 or more have an expirey date. If it was an option then I can view products expirey dates in Inventory Report. Currently, I have to check products manually.

    I would really appreciate it if this can be added to Clover.

  9. When using the Multi-Location Dashboard Inventory we are consistently having to make updates to locations and other attributes multiple times before the change is actually saved to the item. Many times I have to make a change at each location before it will accept the updates.

    Additionally, having ALL the functionality at the multi location level that we have at the individual location level - many things have to be done at the location level and with multiple locations have to make the same change multiple times is very time consuming.

  10. Please add "brand" column or feature. Right now our retail business uses "printer label" as brand because we do not need to print orders to a kitchen and we need something to account for the many brands that we sell. For whatever reason, when adding a new product, the "pinter label" options are not alphabetical. This is very annoying because we have almost 100 brands that we have to scroll through to find the right one.

  11. The inventory we have for sale are sometimes used for jobs as well, I need to be able to deduct inventory at cost so that profit will not be reported.
    Either I need an item specific discount or a modifier that can be negative.

    Also, what's up with no low quantity alert and no inventory report? We need low quantity alert to see when we need to order new inventory. And we need inventory reports to evaluate how each item in the inventory is selling.

  12. When adding modifiers it would be nice if all the same group modifiers would group together. Example would be half and half pizza. When selecting modifiers if you select right modifiers then left modifiers and a customer adds on another right modifier it goes under the left modifiers instead of up with the other right modifiers. When sending this to the printer it is harder for the pizza cook to keep track of what goes on which side.

  13. In the clover dining or register the ability to repeat an already printed item would be great. Yes you can do this if the employee has access to "Edit Printed Items" But the ability to repeat would be helpful while preventing them from being able to delete items. Basically separate delete and repeat functionality.

  15. Need the ability to 86 an item quickly in the middle of service. Any employee should be able to do it as the chef yells out "86 the empanadas!!!" this way, online customers wouldn't be able to order empanadas for the day, for example. The 86 should reset the following day or whenever an employee "un86 it" to make it available again.

  16. Currently, when creating a new item on multi-location dashboard, there is no option to adding a picture or adding it on online ordering. When you try doing that on the individual location after adding the item on multi-location dashboard, the option for the online ordering does not appear

  17. Need to create a new permission where an item cant be deleted after the item has been sent to the kitchen.
    The current permission that stops this from occurring is "able to edit an item after its ben printed" but this permission stops the servers from being able to add more quantities to that item like when customers reorder a round of drinks.

  18. Please create a button to re-order the same set of items when the business uses the customer data app and a regular customer orders the same items. The app already has the information regarding what they ordered, their name, and their phone number. The business wants to pull up the customer information and just hit one button to place another order for the same items when the customer calls in instead of creating the order from scratch.

  19. The new upgraded version is too cumbersome. I like the old version so much better. Is there a way to go back to the old version especially in the inventory section. You have way too many clicks to do what is needed than the old version. The old version everything you need to do is on one screen and not having to click to open areas to add categories, item stock, etc. Can we have an option to go back please?
