Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. keep server for tip purposes even if the ticket has been "cashed out" by someone else ie an admin or manager that has access to all orders and transactions. we do this a lot when it is busy and people come up to the bar to pay their bill. the bartender is a manager/admin and can cash out all tickets under her name. but the ticket and tip should stay in the servers name

  2. Merchants is not happy their station pro keep losing fingerprints and have to add fingerprint for employees. Additionally, from time to time Employee app have error saving the fingerprint. We keep sending diagnostics logs but at the moment we are tired that this keeps happening. We keep getting angry messages and calls from our merchants.

  3. Ability for Servers to delete an item before its made. Basically need a separate permission before its made. Do not want to give them ability to delete after its made. Today they have to get manager approval to delete item before its made.

  4. When a server has a table and another person (like a manager) brings a Flex to the customer for a payment, the table (and tip) will be reassigned to whoever logs into the Flex and runs the transaction at that table.

    This is horrible for the server because only they can take a Flex payment for that table, regardless if they are busy or the customer wants to pay at the bar.

    A workaround is to create a ghost account with a password that everyone knows, and then take the Flex to the table with that ghost account, run the…

  5. Employees need to be able to have more than one role assigned. Again for accounting purposes. Every Restaurant has employees that work multiple roles. That way when I print out an employees hours to pay them Im able to see the role they clocked in as.

  7. Allow Admin to enable/disable a staff member to add/remove service charge. While it is imperative to have the system restrict removing the service charge due to operational loss. In certain environments its required to add a service charge at odd hours of the day depending on the order. We need to be able to restrict the addition or removal with the admin code

  8. Assign categories per employee code. This would allow categories and inventory items to be assigned and accessible based on their employee code. Currently all employees can see all categories and inventory items and run transactions from any category.

  9. Merchant would like to have the option to prompt the employee for their passcode at a specific location when switching businesses on the clover go app. Currently, the location can be switched without a passcode entered but merchant wants this option to be able to be toggled so the location switching process is more secure.

  11. Clover Dashboard > Employee's> Add New Employee this form asks all the requisites and information of the employee's but it does not display on the reporting> employee's report of the hourly wages and transferred estimated wages from homebase.

  12. I have a client with over 240 locations, and they need to add a Manager with access to each instance of the Dashboard. I was told by numerous resources that the only way to achieve this is for the client to add the Manager, one by one, to each individual MID. There needs to be a way to perform this function at a high level and have it cascade down to each MID in the hierarchy so the client only has to do it one time. If we are trying to sell Clover up-market, we need more efficient management functionality…

  13. employee permission on what they can view. when my staff opens up to create an invoice all my total sales show on the screen. i do not want my staff to see that. it should only show create invoice and in another screen there should be previous invoices. and screen should be accounting reports

  14. We need the ability to use the app to LOG OUT staff who forgot to log out and LOG IN staff who forgot to log in. Make life easier and have less payroll issues.

  15. It would be nice to be able to download the staff - codes - roles to excel. So we can easily see user codes. We have staff that works at two of our companies and it would be nice to easily see what codes they are using to build in other companies.
    Or if we have linked companies ..... have an option to build them in more then one company at time of building.

  16. Please make the Employee filter in reporting searchable. Merchants (Taxis) may have 600 employees to drop down through...needs to be a searchable field.

  17. Merchant would like to be able to narrow down an employee's reporting access to a specific inventory category or order type, rather than an all or nothing for Reporting. For example, they have an employee who manages their events. They would like that employee to have access to sales reporting ONLY for the Events category, not ALL sales reporting. Otherwise, all sales reporting access must be disabled and another member of management has to pull and edit the reporting before sending to the events manager.

  18. Our business is a grooming salon and our receptionist cashes payments. Therefore the name of the receptionist is on the receipt, but not the groomer who the tip belongs too. There should be a way to assign a service provider to a ticket to account for tips and commission! This seems like a basic feature that any service business needs.

  19. Cash Drawer Permission: If there's an order of $0.00, create a permissions for employees not being able to take it. Some merchants complain because there are cases where the employee adds a discount and leaves it on $0.00 and they cannot control the cash drawer movements with that.

  20. We do have Non-Profits that purchase from us and are Tax Exempt, I would like to have the ability to remove the sales tax to be restricted to Manager's only so that any random employee can't remove taxes from any order (which we are still on the hook for!!)
