Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

  1. Currently you can only offer tip suggestions as a percentage, but as a coffee shop dollar amounts make more sense. People typically tip $1.00 -$5.00 per drink and with the percentage tipping option it doesn't even come close. It cuts baristas short by doing percentage suggestions even when upping percentages, and takes away the convienence option for customers when they have to exclusively custom tip. Giving us the option of percentage or dollar and letting us set our own tip options would be amazing. Thanks.

  2. I've had multiple requests from counterpay restaurant clients to have the ability to prioritize modifiers for what order they will print on the kitchen receipt. Currently the system only prints these in the order they were selected by the employee... but many kitchen lines have to do things in a specific order. Prioritizing modifiers can help to make sure they always print right for the kitchen. THANK YOU

  3. Merchant would like to restrict their tender types to certain employees to force that for e.x., cash to be taken only by admin roles to force employees to give the money to people with that role.

  6. when you make changes or void on any fired items, kitchen will need to get notified as well and you should able to destinate which order printer to receive this notifications, so our food runner or chef can make sure the modification or deleted item will not be made accordingly. The current system forces our employees to run or walk to the kitchen to notify this. Add note is not wise because it can be ignored and require many typing.

  9. Merchant would like for the quantity limit amount to be more than the existing 999 that we have currently. All of the orders are calculated via pounds and he would like to be able to key that type of information in for the quantity.

  10. Would like to be able to see the total number of items that have have been scanned. For example, if fifty items have been scanned, it should show 50 somewhere on the screen.

  11. merchant would like taxes to appear on the payment receipt as labeled. Instead of subtotal and tax, he would like them to read what taxes are being charged, for instance an order with food and liquor would have a liquor tax line display and a sale tax line display on the receipt as a breakdown of what taxes were charged to the customer

  13. Merchant states any employee should be able to receive the closeout email. Merchant states he shouldn't have to change the owners email in order to get it accomplished.

  14. How can we make Categories go away for certain time period ?

    For example, merchant has Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menu and the prices are not the same. Since they do have such a large menu they don’t want to see Dinner menu during breakfast time or breakfast menu during dinner.

  15. Having a lot of experience with the other major POS providers in the market, I am very surprised that Clover does not have a better inventory management system. Virtually all of Clover's direct competitors offer this essential service. Currently, all third party apps are clunky and create more confusion than help.

    I believe Clover should specifically have the ability to:

    1.) Set low inventory thresholds and reorder quantities. (dynamic thresholds would be best to accommodate business's with changing seasonal sales)
    2.) Ability to assign each product to a corresponding vendor
    3.) Ability to create purchase orders for inventory below the…

Currently, BC"s have to call into Clover Support to have an Auto-Batch time changed, we have received trainings on this and have to differentiate between when the Merchant Batches and when First Data Host closes the batch out. This also is related to which bank the merchant uses to have next day funding capability. Every time I have called in and very clearly explain what batch time they need in order to get next day funding and even include my Time Zone(Central) vs. Eastern- I still have it formatted incorrectly about 50% of the time. It would save us time…

    The best preventative measure for short ringing is to implement a blind closeout process. Blind closeout requires employees to reconcile cash at the end of their shift without notifying them of the exact amount they are expected to return. They have to count the cash and report the total to the system without knowing what it's “supposed” to be.

  20. Easily 75% of all FSRs in the greater NYC area use OpenTable for their reservations. To NOT integrate directly with OpenTable is a huge yellow flag for established FSRs to switch to Clover.
