Payment Link feature on Clover web dashboard to populate captured customer name in transactions and transaction should reference link used
The Payment Link feature on Clover web dashboard (under Ecommerce section) allows you to create URLs to post on website, and the URL brings user to a checkout page. You can create multiple payment link URLs from the clover web dashboard and each URL ends in a unique identifier. The payment link checkout page asks for amount, user first and last name, email address, and card details. Once a transaction is completed successfully, the transaction appears in the "Payments" section under Transactions in the Clover web dashboard. When transactions are viewed in detail or when transactions are exported, the payment link URL transactions DO NOT capture and populate the users name and last name, even though the first and last name is asked for on the URL checkout page. In addition, the unique identifier at the end of the URL IS NOT captured and populated in the transaction details, so we are unable to know where the transaction came from.
For example: A payment link URL looks like the following:
Example 1: https://link.clover.com/urlshortener/5BSsfS
Example 2: https://link.clover.com/urlshortener/mCTMQ6
The end of the URL shows a unique identifier that should be entered into the transaction details so the merchant knows where the transaction comes from. This will become important because example URL 1 can be used on Facebook and URL 2 can be used on the merchant website. Therefore, any transactions that occur on Facebook would be tagged with the unique identifier for URL 1 and we would know that once we know the URL used.
