exchanging items
Merchant wants to be able to locate items for exchanges by typing the name of the item or by scanning the bar code of the item to avoid having to go through all the items one by one. Also to be able to have exchanges between multiple categories.

You should be able to scan item for return/exchange. The item should come up as a negative amount to subtract from new items added. If there is a negative balance due, it should prompt cash, credit card or gift card as the form of payment for the return balance.

Update on this please! Clover's retail game is weak. Not a great solution and this is our second year with it (Greenhouse). Devs seem very slow to add even the basic requirements to support customer base.
Come on clover... Square now has nice hardware that people are moving to...

I have had my Clover system since 2016, and I can't believe this is still an issue. Such a simple problem to solve within the Orders app. Really should have been fixed by now, this is a real problem for retailers.

Can you please add a search option in the exchange feature. When trying to exchange I can select the item a customer wants to exchange, but to select the new item is just a list and we have thousands of items in our inventory. It makes no sense to scroll through every item. There is no easy way/convenient way to select the new item. We are currently having to refund the item and run a new transaction.

Why in the world hasn't Clover worked on this? There are over 50 other suggestions in this site asking for the exact same thing. Clover needs to type the word "exchange" into this site and see how many others have requested this exact same thing. I sell Clovers and everytime a retail store asks me if they should get Clover, I tell them NO. It is not good if they do exchanges. If Clover had this like other Retail softwares do, then I could sell and support Clovers to tons of retail stores. Please get your software team to add this most basic funtionality to Clover. And make it to where you don't have to use "gift cards" to add value to make the exchange. That is absurd.

Customer comes back in to return and would like to purchase an item with a higher value. Have to cancel the entire transaction and do a completely new transaction. Instead easier options is for the customer to pay the difference.
Most likely will switch to a different POS system all because of this feature as it's a big problem.

Exchange policies are vital for a retail businesses, and the exchanges of items for an item of greater or lesser value is equally as vital.
In the case for lesser value:
Consumer returns to a store, and requests to exchange an item (A), for item (B). Item A is $200, and Item B is $100.
At the point where the merchant is selecting items for the exchange, in the event the merchant selects an item of lesser value and no more; the merchant can either:
1. Issue a store credit/gift card for the remainder.
2. Offer cash back to the customer (Setting).
3. Select more options until equal or greater.In the event the exchange is for an item(s) of greater value, the prompts continue into the payment screen where the merchant or customer can select the payment method.

Being able to exchange a product, that has a discount, without having to refund the entire transaction and charging or refunding the difference.
Also, partial refunds would be convenient as well. -

We would like to be able to process an exchange from the DASHBOARD. Right now, you can do an exchange only from the clover device, but not the online dashboard.

Exchanges should be able to be made between items of different value.
If I sell a pair of sunglasses worth $100, and the customer comes back the next day to exchange for a $200 pair of sunglasses.
The exchange should be seamless instead of a return, then another transaction. I’m sure this is simple coding, and if you would like to start targeting retailers, this is a GREAT first step!

There needs to be a way to do an exchange of merchandise for items rather than those that are the same price as the items being returned. Currently if a customer wants to exchange an item they are only able to exchange that item for something of the same value. They should be allowed to exchange an item for anything in your inventory. Example: if a customer is bringing back an item for $50 and wants to exchange if for a $25 item and a $10 Item right now it does not give you that option. It only allows you to exchange it for items which are $50 and those $50 items are the only things which show up. So you have to do a return, issue a credit (we don't give cash back) And then ring up the purchase separately. It should be one simple transaction. Also, it should allow for items with discounts to be returned & exchanged as well.

Clover....can you update us on this one??? It is costing my merchant $300 per month in gift card activations to be able to handle "exchanges" for different priced items. They are going to leave and go to another POS if Clover can't figure this simple retail store operation out. Let me know if you need help figuring this out. I can't sell any more Clovers to retailers until this gets done. Thanks!
