As a custom jeweler we would like the ability to separate labor and materials in one inventory item. For example, if we charge the customer $65 to resize a ring the labor is not taxed but materials are. I would like the customer to see something like “Sizing 1 size larger” for $65 plus tax on the receipt, however the tax should only be calculated for $10 in materials, not the whole $65. It would be ideal if when we enter this into the inventory system we could title the item “ring size”, add $55 labor and $10 taxable materials so we can simply choose “ring size” when ringing the customer up instead of having to choose two separate inventory listings to charge for labor and materials.
