Allow tipping on gift card payments
Currently, customers are not able to add a tip when paying with a gift card. This creates friction at checkout, especially for service-based businesses such as restaurants, cafés, and salons where tipping is expected.
Other POS systems allow customers to add a tip using the remaining gift card balance when sufficient funds are available.
We would like Clover to support tipping on gift cards, with the tip deducted from the card balance just like a regular payment.

Create an option to allow staff to select offered tip amounts based off of 1. Total bill or 2. Current transation
Hello, a lot of my staff are being stiffed due to the current set up of the tip options in Clover. The tip is only charging tip amount based off of the transaction rather than the whole bill.
Ex. $100 Bill: Customer pays $90 Cash, $10 card. Recommended gratuity amount will be based on the $10 amount ONLY resulting in a $2 tip for a $100 bill.6 votesThank you for submitting your Idea to UserVoice.

Donations (to 501(c)(3) entity) instead of tips
There is currently no way to change the screen in the Clover POS that says
"Tip" to "Donation" on customer receipts. Although my business is a business, we partner with a 501(c)(3) entity and give them 100% of our "tips" because they are not tips, they are donations. When we show the customer the screen, we tell them we do not take tips but ask if they would like to add a donation to the charity that my business partners with. Gratuity Permission
Add permissions to gratuity. Employees have ability to add/ remove gratuity. There is no permission at the moment to request a manager code when adding/ removing gratuity.

Cash Tip Recording
Clover appears to not have a way to track a "server bank" where servers are holding their cash the entire shift. The "shifts" app has been sunset. Does Clover plan to have a way to track this or is the best solution for a merchant to Pay for the Homebase tip module? Server Bank is critical for many restaurants

Tip options
option to pick what type of sale we are running. So, it can have an option for a tip or not an option for a tip.
We would like the tip option to show when collecting payment for services rendered by the esthetician IE: Facials, but not to show for collecting payments for the doctor. IE: copays or deductibles.

Online Order Tips - Change Default
Allow online order tips to default to chosen employee. As of 7/28/26, it defaults to the owner with no way to change this. This messes up payroll and shows income being attributed to the owner in an incorrect way.

Allow tips on non cash and non credit card sales
We have a few "in house" accounts with a custom tender that are used for the accountant to send monthly bills out. but the people like to tip and they like to put the tip on their accounts. we would really like to give them this ability and put up a tip screen that would let them tip the server and then those tips be posted in the server's tips for the end of the night.

Tipping by Category
As a small business, we have services that are tipped (Dog Grooming) and services that are not tipped (Dog Daycare / Dog Boarding) as well as taxable sales (Merchandise) that should not be tipped. The Clover system allows us to turn on / off globally. But that's not a good fit for our business. The dog groomer gets shorted on her work. But we don't want to turn tipping on when 90% of our business is not tipped.

Tip Splitting and Commission
In Salons each employee performs a different service, so tip splitting and Commission pay per service is very important to have.

Need Tipping Option for Phone Orders
Why is there no tip option for a Call in payment over the phone when using debit, or credit card. This is so frustrating. I have customers that call in for orders and pay over phone and it wont let me add a tip amount when customers want to add one. Need help

Tips missing from POS during cash payment
The POS system currently has no method of tracking, entering or otherwise accepting cash tips. We are forced to rely on an honor system of the current barista that they will not steal or keep cash tips from the tip pool. Not to even begin mention basic reporting statistics.
I've spoken at length with technical support and there is no option of determining overage or shortage during cash close out to have that amount (tips) show up in our sales report anywhere. This is a major fail for a cash business and an extremely critical component of performing business.

Remove "None" Option for Tips
Ability to remove the "None" option for tips. Customer can select "custom" and type in $0.00. ****** POS doesn't even have "none" They make you type in $0 in custom. When customers see that as the first option, they automatically think it is okay to not tip.

Accepting tips on Virtual terminal
There is no way to recieve tips on a virtual terminal. I would like this to be made available. I do not want it to be a percentage of a sale but rather at the customers discretion

Bar tip out
Need the ability to allocate a percentage of individual net sales from one employee to another. (ie: allocating 2% of each individual server's net sales to the bartender at the end of each server shift).
