2 taxes for Virtual Terminal and Payment Links
The Clover Virtual Terminal (VT), and Payment Links, do not allow for 2 taxes - for example GST and QST in Quebec - to be selected. This is a headache for merchants who wish to have correct reporting regarding both federal and provincial taxes in Canada, and particularly frustrating since our POS does allow for two taxes. Here's a summary:
The Virtual Terminal – whether for manual entry, invoice, or otherwise – only allows for 1 tax type to be added, not 2. The workaround is to create a single tax type and call it TPS & TVQ and add the two amounts together. But for accounting-savvy merchants (for example B2B merchants), this is not a great workaround because the customer receipt doesn’t separate the two taxes, and the reporting for the merchant afterwards is messy for that same reason.
As for the Payment Links, they don’t allow for any taxes to be added. So the merchant must enter the full amount including taxes, and just deal with the messiness.
There is a workaround: If a merchant downloads the Clover Go app on an iPhone, and activates Tap To Pay, they’ll then see the option to send invoices and they do allow for two taxes! However, not all merchants have an iPhone (or an Apple device). And anyway, it seems reasonable to expect that our VT, and our Payment Links, would be capable of having 2 taxes, just like on the POS.
Please make 2 taxes available on the VT and with Payment links!
