Remember and associate customer email with credit card number across network in order to send receipt
This is exactly what Square does, and it works wonderfully and seamlessly. When a customer pays at a Square terminal with a credit card and inputs their email address for a receipt, the card number and email are automatically associated and saved across the network. From then on, any Square terminal will automatically email a receipt to the same address when that card number is processed.
Presumably some customers will not want this option, even if the address isn’t used for marketing purposes, so there should be a way to opt out.
This saves time, receipt paper, and contact with surfaces. I hope Square hasn’t unjustly patented this idea, because to my mind that would be the only reason not to implement it.

My email is a long one. Inputting it at the point of sale on a smaller screen accurately poses a challenge. Having it presaged would help, and improve my user experience.

I agree that this is a critical user feature. My local coffee shop just changed from Square to Clover and I hate Clover for just this reason! I'm petitioning them to change back.

What is happening with this request? I do not want to have to enter my email address every single time. Until you fix this, I will be asking for a printed receipt.

is this going to happen soon?

A similar request for remembering email addresses even for a single vendor was requested back in 2018. If Clover were to explain the inaction was associated with regulation such as GDPR, that'd be fine, but it seems that silence is the best hope at making this go away.
The Clover POS hardware-wise is very slick - this request would make the software experience consistent with that experience.

Square does this. Toast does this. Clover...does not. It's time to catch up; I want my (digital) receipts but I don't want to tap in my email address Every. Single. Time.
