Clover Online Ordering - Taxes
We have been offering To Go orders only since mid-March. In Ohio you charge
tax of 8% on food and beverage when servicing in-house but no tax for food
to go. We are allow to sell alcohol to go, which we need to charge tax of
8%.
We are currently using RESTAURANTOPS to manage the online ordering. They
allow us to either use default tax or no tax - the no tax option works in
Restaurantantops but not in Clover. To make it work for Clover, where no
tax is charged for food but tax is charged for liquor and wine, I had to set
ALL our food inventory in Clover to 0% tax. For liquor and wine I left the
8% tax and set the online system to pickup the default tax of 8%. This
worked.
My problem is that tomorrow we go back to in house dining and carry out. I
need a way to charge tax for food and beverage in house while not charging
for carry out food and charging tax for carryout beverages.
What do I do?
Does your online order system account for sales tax per my description
above? If it does then I will make the switch to the Clover online system,
even though it has it challenges, which I have already talked to support about.
