Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

8. Other Management Suggestions: Place your idea here if you have feedback that does not fit in any of the other forum categories.

  2. Could you please allow us the option to use the old format with a toggle or something? We are a retail business and I have over 5000 items to keep track of. The new version takes so much longer to make adjustments with everything in its own dropdown. I prefer the old way where everything was on one page.
    And please bring back the "Alternate Name". That was how we kept track of the manufacturers.

  3. Need a "Select All" or "Apply to All" option within inventory when editing items, NOT just what is shown/loaded on web page.

    Would also be nice to be able to have this option within the Inventory App on the Clover too. This would then, require it's own permission in Employees App as well.

  4. Allow option for old interface when editing, adding or cloning an item. New interface implemented on 10/28/22 very cumbersome. The item search list results, allows which fields to show, BUT does not allow column size control. Cannot see enough of the item description to determine which item needs to be updated. also cannot see full Product Code/UPC on the search list. Please correct search list to display all data either by widening the columns or implementing a field wrap in variable height rows.

  5. The decision to change the inventory page layout without warning to Clover users was abysmal as well as disrespectful. My business has to make inventory/price changes on the fly, sometimes in the middle of a customer transaction and we do not have the time to learn the new layout while someone is standing there waiting to pay for an item. Also, it is going to take three times as long to enter information as it used to. We are a consignment store with a continually changing stock, not a business that orders the same items every week, month etc. At…

  6. The new inventory system update is completely unusable. Please go back to the old system where all the relevant inventory details (like cost) are on one page. If this doesn't go back to the way it was, we will have to move to another POS system. It really triples the time we will spend updating our inventory because we will have to click through multiple pages instead of just changing them in one page.

  7. When selecting the three blue bars to the left under inventory, there is a multitude of choices to select to have displayed on the main screen. 'Item Cost" should be added to the selection so that it can be modified or verified on the main display without having to enter the item details to locate it. It should be a choice similar to "price," "Item Code," etc. that are currently in the drop-down menu.

  8. Register - In the search field when I type L3 the results is every item that has a L3 in it. Why doesn't it start with all the names that start with L? This takes a great deal of time when customers are waiting.

  9. It has come up to our attention that price changes happen very often if not daily, so it'll help to have logs show when the item price changes.

  10. If a Bartender rings up a drink, it prints a ticket to their label printer no matter what. A bartender doesn't need to see a ticket for a Miller Lite that they just opened and handed to a customer. If your bar staff totals more than one you could end up with drinks being made twice.

  11. In Clothing store, we like to add SIZE, COLOR or Sometime Dimensions but there should not be any price tag attached. Currently it shows Size Medium $0.00 which looks very odd.

    Variant Item doesn't a solution, it is very difficult to manage with 100s of articles with 50+ variants each i.e. (Sizes x Colors)

  12. Please add a way to isolate order types to specific devices. For example, the restaurant has a drive through and would like to designate that device to auto-print DRIVE-THRU on the order receipts, instead of having the employee select the option on the Register. This feature will be applicable for settings with a Bar.

    The issue is that employees are forgetting to select the order type in the Register and it is causing issues with the preparation. This is a feature available on the SAM4S POS and should be available on an advance POS like Clover.

  13. Making selection of an order type a mandatory action. All employees must select an order type before ringing anyone up would be amazingly helpful.

  14. IN order to control Beverages we need to be able to force a beverage for every person based on the total number of people per check. This will allow you to have water as a beverage and an owner can keep track of his beverage count with his number of guest and can see how many customers order water verses another beverage. If a server sells water but puts a beverage on the table instead. This will cost the business owner a lot of his profit.   16. Allow for item duplication/cloning on devices such as the flex. Item duplication is allowed on the web dashboard but not on the actual devices. It’s a useful tool for retail businesses.

  17. I would like to be able to search under "orders" "Line Items" by the custom modifier we put in. Our Products on the main register screen belong to different people. if the item being sold is rung up under the wrong product ID we need to be able to search by the custom modifier and correct it. We used to be able to do this but cannot anymore.

  18. Currently All inventory counts are allowed to go negative. A true countdown allows you to input the total amount of inventory on hand and not be able to sell more than you have. When you get to 0 the terminal should not allow the item to be sold. Making this an option to turn on or off would be the best.

  20. Currently the only way we can assign items to revenue classes is to add the item to the revenue class which is messy & not very well organized. It would be nice to have the ability to assign an item to a revenue class from item maintenance. This would also help insure that items are not being excluded from revenue classes when used.
