Please change the match filtering on product codes to be exact match
When adding product codes to individual items: the current programming has very broad matching criteria. If just 2 or 3 sequential numbers within a product code match, then when either item is scanned, you get a list of items at the POS to choose from. This leaves far too much room for error in ringing up the correct items. It defeats the whole point of having unique individual product codes.
Here is an example. I have 1 item thats product code is 4325, I have another completely different item that has a product code 665570982325, 2 VERY different product codes. When I scan either products UPC at the register, I get them both popping up on the screen with a message that says, '2 items match 325, choose the item you want'.
I use unique product codes so that I don't have to scroll through a list of items to find the correct one, not to mention cross my fingers and hope my staff chooses the right item. It will literally do this if only 2 consecutive numbers match. I have some items that cause a list of 6-10 items to up because it matches on 2 consecutive numbers within each 8-9 digit code. This is WAY too narrow of a match criteria and honestly not sure why a POS would want anything to match up like this unless it is the EXACT same code to prevent duplication of UPC's for different products.
Please change the matching criteria for product codes to EXACT to resolve this issue. Thank you.
