Critical Inventory Reporting Gap Affecting Retail Performance
Hello Clover Product & Development Team,
I am writing to formally revisit a feature request I submitted earlier this year regarding inventory reporting. At the time, I was advised that this functionality was “not available,” but I want to clearly express how critical this gap is for retail businesses and why it deserves serious reconsideration moving into 2026.
As a brick-and-mortar retail store owner, I rely on my POS system not just to process sales, but to make informed business decisions. Currently, Clover does not provide a clear way to view:
The date an item was entered into inventory
The last date an item was sold
How many units of an item have sold since being added
Without this information, retailers are operating blind.
For example:
Item A entered on 05/27/2024, quantity 12, last sold 05/24/2025, total sold: 1
Item B entered on 05/27/2024, quantity 12, last sold 05/24/2025, total sold: 11
With this data, I can immediately determine:
What should be reordered
What should be discounted or clearanced
What trends are actually performing in-store
What products are tying up cash without moving
This level of reporting is essential for inventory management, cash flow, trend forecasting, and pricing strategy—especially for small retail businesses navigating rising costs and rapidly changing consumer behavior driven by social media trends.
To be candid, other POS platforms such as ********** and ******** already offer this functionality, which puts Clover at a competitive disadvantage for retailers who depend on actionable inventory insights, not just transaction logs.
Retailers need tools that help us:
Reduce dead stock
Improve sell-through rates
Respond quickly to trends
Make data-backed purchasing decisions
As Clover looks toward 2026, I strongly encourage your team to consider how far behind this leaves retail users and how implementing these reporting features would significantly strengthen Clover’s position in the retail POS space.
If this specific reporting cannot be implemented, I would appreciate a detailed explanation of which existing reports (if any) Clover recommends retailers use to accurately track product performance over time—including sell-through, last-sale activity, and aging inventory.
Thank you for taking this request seriously. Retailers like myself want to continue growing with Clover, but we need tools that support how modern retail actually operates.
Sincerely,
Dee Sims
