Taking Payments

There are a lot of ways to take a payment. Provide your ideas to help advance Clover’s payments acceptance process here. We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Virtual Terminal: Provide all feedback on the Virtual Terminal in this category. How can we make this solution more useful for merchants?

2. Refunds/Exchanges: If you have any feedback on Clover’s refund or exchange functions please let us know here.

3. Recurring Payments: Share your thoughts on accepting recurring payments here. Tell us how we can improve.

4. Invoicing: Is there any functionality that can be added to our systems to enhance the invoicing feature? Put your ideas in this forum category.

5. Voids: How can we make voiding a transaction easier and simpler? Tell us your suggestions to improve this payment feature.

  2. return to any credit debit card if original payment method cant' be used

    If a customer paid with a debit card we see that we can't process a return to that payment method. It does give an option for a gift card. I would like to see an option for another payment method so we don't have to process the return manually.

    We believe this has been resolved for at least Visa, MasterCard, and Discover through our support of Online Refund Authorization. Please reply back if we are misunderstanding your original post.

  3. Add Business Name to the Send Invoice

    Business Name is an optional field when merchant takes a payment via the Virtual Terminal; however, when they want to Send Invoice, Business Name is still not an option. Please add it to Send Invoice tab as well so invoices can be addressed to a business rather than individual

  4. Manual transactions on the tablet for Station Pro.

    Merchant would like VT to be able to accept international zip codes that have letters or characters.

  9. Online Order payments

    Online Order payments:
    Make it easier for customers to process the payment.

    1) default to location country. I am in Canada and it default to Australia - difficult to enter telephone #
    2) use Apple Pay and Google pay

    our customers rather call their order in than struggling with the payment section.

  10. Add PayPal and AmazonPay as payment options for invoices sent via email

    Currently, there is only GPay and manual credit card entry for paying invoices sent to emails.

    It would be great to add PayPal and Amazon Pay to the payment options.

  12. Carbon Copy of Transaction sent to company email

    We have drivers in the field collecting payments via Clover Go, and right now they have to type out our company email in one of the email fields in order to notify our company that a certain invoice has been paid.

    I was told that there use to be an option to carbon copy receipts to an email address of choice. This would reduce our driver workload and help minimize human error. This feature would be incredibly helpful for our team.

  13. Is there a compatible wireless scanner for the Clover Duo?

    Would be great if we could have a list of compatible wireless scanners for the Clover Duo.
    Google searched and found that the DS687 USB wireless barcode Scanner might be one, but Clover tech can't seem to confirm this for us.

  14. Debit Surcharge should NOT be limited to $0.25 !!

    Possibly $1.00 or $1.50 would be more reasonable. I have
    always charged $1.00 debit surcharge since April 2011.

  15. Recurring payment - Need an option to add customer's bank account details

    Currently, we have an option to add a customer's card details in the recurring payment processing. We are also looking for an option to add ACH payments/customer's bank details. ACH payment option is not available now.

  16. Need to have taxable & non taxable columns

    We are a service company (Custom Cooling Services) and need to have the option of non taxable items and taxable items plus the tax %. In NJ materials/parts are non taxable but labor is.
    Please try to rectify this ASAP as we have charges that need to be put through but can not be at this time

  17. key entered transactions need a tip line

    For pick up orders we used to have the ability to key enter cc info and print receipt with tip line so the customer could tip upon picking up the order, that went away 2 days ago. Please allow it to be enabled

  19. Printable version of invoice?

    I can't believe I'm just now learning that Clover does not actually generate an invoice? This is an extremely common request from customers, and one I didn't even think to ask about when signing up, I guess I assumed it was a given. Very disappointing. This defintiely needs to be made a feature, it's very simple to implement, and almost every other platform I am looking at offers this feature. Just a simple invoice someone could print, doesn't even have to be a PDF, although PDF seems like the obvious choice.

  20. Use card reader with Virtual Terminal

    Merchant has requested the ability to allow the Clover Go card reader to connect bluetooth to a PC and then feed the information through to Virtual Terminal and not limit it to just mobile devices
