There are a lot of ways to take a payment. Provide your ideas to help advance Clover’s payments acceptance process here. We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!

  1. At this moment, if an employee uses the Register app, the tips go to the person who cash out the transaction. For example, Joe takes a phone order and hit "save" using the Register App. Then, Peter cash out that transaction. The tips goes to Peter instead of Joe. We need to fix this because a full service restaurant has a lot of take out orders. And the servers do not share the tips. Creating tables on Clover Dinning as a workaround won't work when there are lots of take-out orders. Opening Bar & More tab won't work either because…

  3. It is very awkward, presumptive, and feels like bad manners to hand the Clover Flex device to a customer after a spa service and the first and only thing they see is the tip screen. Sometimes customers appear to be taken aback by this as tips are supposed to be a gratuity (not expected as I was always taught) By handing them the device with that tip screen as their first interaction with processing their payment, it is startling. I believe that having the signature line on the same screen as the tip screen is more polite and encouraging because…

  5. Restaurant managers should have the capability to adjust ANY tip that is received by customers - not just the ones that are left on a printed receipt. Customers make mistakes during the on-screen tipping option by adding an extra zero, selecting the wrong percentage, or accidentally hitting the "Skip" button, etc. Every other POS that I have ever worked with has this function and it is shocking and disappointing that Clover devices don't have this option.

  6. In the Tips program, it would be very helpful to also show the Cardholders Name or Last Name. Rather than having to look for the last 4 digits on the receipt and on the screen.

    Thanks for your feedback. Would you mind elaborating on the problem you're running into by not having the Cardholder Name in this Tips report? Also, to confirm, are you referring to the Tips app on the Clover device, or on the Clover Web Dashboard?

  7. Merchant would like to restrict and limit employees to add tipping over certain amount of percentage being tipped by the customer. To verify the employee is not over charging customer if the % limit is reached.

    Example:
    Total : $100
    Customer pays
    Tips are enabled for printed receipt.
    Customer pays over 35% than the regular suggested tips enabled on the set up app under the tips section, manager or admin would like an approval or permission to ask for an approval after entering tip amount over the limit amount.

    Thanks for your feedback. 

    Today, we currently prompt the user to confirm a very high tip (over 30%). Our assumption is that only managers and admins have access to the Tips app, and believe that this warning is sufficient. 

    If managers want further control over their tip entries, they can limit the tips permission for respective employees.

  8. Previously on the Station 2018 model the customer would be prompted to select a tip amount after the sale had processed. On the Station DUO the tip prompt screen pops up on the customer facing device after the Merchant clicks "charge on connected device" before the transaction has actually processed. I have had multiple of my merchants complain about this workflow because customers selecting the tip amount and leave because they think they have paid. My merchants have unfortunately lost a couple of sales because of this. They are high volume Coffee shops so they are unable to monitor whether…

  9. Many restaurants have the need for employees to "tip-out" other employees based off of their sales of food and non-alcoholic beverages during their shift. This is fairly common for small & medium size restaurants. For this reason, it would be great to have Sales Totals by Revenue Class print on the Employee report that comes from the Clover device (not the web)... since the employee would need to pull the report themselves and may not have access to a computer. I've had this request from a handful of restaurants.

  10. Would like Dine In versus Take Out to have different tip suggestion options. We configured our tip suggestions from 15% to 30%. This works well for full Dine In service, however asking 15% to 30% for Take Out is rather high when limited service was provided so customers often select No Tip / Skip on our Clover Flex.

    Would be excellent if we could additionally configure tip suggestions based upon order type to help generate more tips! So if order type is Take Out then we could set suggestions from 10% to 20%.

  11. Make remove the "skip/no thanks" option in the tips menu a customizable option. (in French "non merci")

    We can customize percentages, and the text for each, but it would be nice if it was make possible de remove the “skip” option althogether.

    The customize option is there if a client decides not to leave anything. Just don’t make it so easy to be a cheap tool.

  12. Gratuity should only be based on the price of the product. When I enter a delivery charge it is included in my gratuity percentage because gratuity is a percent of the whole bill. There should be an option to add an additional fee for a delivery fee that is not taxed or included in gratuity but instead tacked onto the end total of the bill.

  13. Venues should be allowed to remove the "No Tip" option at their own discretion. A customer can still decide to not tip, they'll just need to do so through the "Custom" tip option.

    This is having such a negative impact on our venues that we're considering switching service providers. All major competitors would allow us to enact these kind of customizations.

  14. Have a feature that allows us to customize categories for when tips are appropriate and when they are not. For example, if someone orders from the dine in/restaurant category, have a feature available for tipping. If they order grocery items, they should not have an option to tip.

  15. Research shows color coding tip options motivate tippers. The color Gold is the best tipping option to be selected to motivate tipping.

  16. Currently on clover duo, if you have it set to 'tip on screen' but you get a phone order and input card information manually (like a pizza shop) the system wont let you add tip because the customer is not present. whenever manual card info is input, the receipt should print on paper so driver can gather signature and tip on delivery.

  18. i have been with clover for a few years now and i have over 15 stations i am in the service business so it is very important for me to split tips employees under a single transaction, i like clover but if this feature isn't added we are considering switching out

  19. On Android tablets, there is no way to stop the Clover Go app from going into landscape mode on the TIP/Signature screens. Merchant would like to ability to remain in portrait mode for the entire payment sequence. The Clover Go app ignores portrait mode lock in settings.

  20. Currently a deposit is removed from the total amount due via a split transaction. The tip is calculated on the remaining balance instead of the total bill. A separate split tab could be created to account for a prepaid deposit.
