generate unique order numbers across a merchant using multiple devices
Program Clover Register Counter service to have different start numbers for the order numbers, this helps avoid duplicate numbers when you have 2 Clover stations at one business.
Have one order number start at 101, the 2nd POS order number to start at 202 and so on.
There are many business with 2 or more registers and taking orders at the same time from 2 different POS' cause confusion in the kitchen.
We are actively beta testing this feature now.

Has there been a solution to this? This is a big issue!

We should have alternating order numbers to avoid duplicates. Order #1 on register A gets used and then Register B automatically goes to Order #2. This will clear up the issue with both registers starting from the same order number and having duplicates throughout the day.

Please allow feature to sync order numbers for customers with multiple clover stations.
Example:
Station 1 puts in an order for some food and the order number is 23.
Station 2 puts in an order for some food and the order number is 2.
We would like the order number on station 2 to be “24”. And the order after that(on either station) to be “25”. -

Actually it's not the issue with syncing. I have a Flex and Station 2 in the same network. But as I create order on the Station it creates it's own order number with own sequence, and when creating in Flex it's creating also same number for instance, I created a To-Go order from Station it printed the receipt with 03 (To-Go) but I already printed another order from the Flex that printed receipt as 03 (To-Go). so it's overlapping on another imagine if the restaurant is busy and servers are ordering simultaneously the numbers will be all over the place and they are already mixing orders as it is happening in real time with my merchant. There has to be a solution that the system should either sync the order number with same order type across the devices or as the above mentioned that have a sequence ID or something before the number to identify it's from another device.

I own a to-go restaurant and have two clover stations solo. My two stations start their order number separately, meaning that if I start putting on orders on my first device, it will start at 1 and it keeps going, when we get busy and need to use the second device, it also starts at 1.
We have many duplicated order numbers and it gets all the employees confusing. Clover is a cloud system and there shouldn't be duplicated order numbers. Can you fix it?
We do not need a dining app or a dining restaurant plan in our business system.(Edited by admin) -

Currently the Roll Over # setting controls all clover devices on an account... yet the order number sequence operates independently on each device. Unfortunately Counter Pay restaurants with multiple Clover Stations are not able to make use of auto order numbers the way the system is currently set. It would be great to have an account level order # sequence like it used to be or for the user to have the ability to pick a starting # and rollover number separately for each clover device on an account.

The duplicate order numbers are coming in from both stations. I just reviewed order numbers and 29 was entered the previous day and then the first order of the next day. The night before duplicate numbers came through 5 times and these orders were not logged simultaneously.

I'm calling it "a single sequential order number set across devices". Business use case: QSR Restaurant uses Tabletop Number Cards with card holders to enhance food runners' speed & accuracy, they need to be able to have every device on the same page- using the same stream of numbers, so the order takers & order makers & order runners can be at the same number no matter how many devices there are.
Please make this a fourth option!
Five Guys has this (I believe they use Micros?).
I agree with Aaron's comment.
I agree with Mandy Laffartha's comment. They both make great points also!

I've had multiple clients set up with multiple stations at a counterpay restaurant where they set up automatic order number generation with a rollover at 100. However, often times when a device is accesses, a new orders is entered quicker than the device can sync to the cloud and pick up the order# sequence... and thus duplicate order numbers are commonly sent to the kitchen. It would be great if this auto-order # feature could have a sequence independent for each device and just send a unique 1 or 2 digit prefix for each device. This is a real issue now though.

When choosing an option for order numbers You can pick "None", "Automatic", or "Manual". When set to Automatic each device starts at 1 and counts up from there. It great for some cases, but would be nice to have a sub-option to have all registers pull from a "pool" of numbers so no two orders have the same number. This is helpful for a QSR that calls out customer numbers to deliver the order.

Have order numbers run concurrently instead of separating them by Order Type. Too confusing when there are several order types and order numbers are the same. For example, if you have Order #1 for a Delivery you will also have an Order #1 for Dine in. It is hard to search orders by order numbers when there are multiples.
