When taking a tableside order on Clover Flex, servers can see the running total and item count, but cannot see the actual line items already entered while continuing to browse and add menu items.

To review the order, the server must tap the dollar amount to open Order Summary, then return to the menu-entry screen to continue ordering.

This becomes a significant operational issue in busy full-service restaurants, bars, and shared-plate concepts where a table may order many items and multiple rounds.

For example, if a table orders multiple entrees, appetizers, drinks, and other items, seeing only “15 items” and the running total does not tell the server whether the correct items and quantities have actually been entered.

With a 20–30 item check, repeatedly switching between the menu and Order Summary interrupts the ordering flow and makes it harder to catch mistakes immediately.

Other restaurant POS systems have addressed this on handheld devices. ***** keeps check details visible while an order is being built, ***** offers a Real-Time Check View with a live check summary, and **** provides direct access to order line items during order entry.

Clover Flex should provide a way to see the current order while continuing to enter menu items.

It does not need to copy the Station layout. A collapsible order panel, expandable check area, or compact view of recently entered items could work well on the smaller Flex screen.

At minimum, servers should be able to see item names, quantities, and modifiers/special requests, and ideally tap an existing line item to edit it without leaving the ordering workflow.

For busy table-service restaurants, this is more than a cosmetic UI improvement. Tableside ordering is intended to improve speed and accuracy. Requiring servers to repeatedly switch screens—or remember the contents of an invisible check—works against both.
