two factor authentication needs to be improved
Hello clover, we are very angry that you are forcing us to use the 2 factor authentication. There are two of us that use the clover dashboard and we both have a computer that we use. There isn't cell service up here where our business is so cell phones cannot be used. After numerous calls, being on hold over and over again and transferred over and over again I finally got someone that could tell me about the authentication app. So I installed the app on both computers but can only get it to work on one computer and it is very much a pain to use taking many tries to get it to work each time we log in. I've been using the recovery codes on the other computer but as you know they can only be used one time each code. We feel our password is good enough security. We would like to have the 2 factor authentication turned off. We have waisted hours and hours on this and are just done with this hog wash. Please turn off the 2 factor authentication or come up with a better way of logging in that doesn't require a cell phone!
Thank you all for your feedback. At this time our compliance teams are requiring Two Factor Authentication to be via text or authentication app. We are unable to change this at this time

Agreed. Ever since the update which requires the extra code, productivity has gotten so bad because my team is waiting on me for the two-factor authentication code. I'm a practitioner who is with clients for hours on end. I simply can't get to my phone multiple times a day because I'm in session.
When I turn the authentication off, it says I'll have to reset my password every 90 days, which I'm perfectly fine with. However, the moment we have to log in again, it forces two-factor authentication to be turned on...so really they say there's an option for it to be turned off, but it's a fake option because there's not a button that let's me choose to keep it turned off when logging in.
It was perfectly fine before everything was updated. -

The new two factor authentication for the desktop terminal was poorly planned. It only allows for a cell phone number to receive security codes. We are a BUSINESS, we don't use a cell-phone for business. There is no way for us to get the code without putting a PERSONAL cell number on record. We can't even receive a call from your system with a voice code because your bot can't press the right department number on our auto attendant phone system.
Besides that, we have multiple employees needing to take card payments and each one needing a code. Clover should allow for login security codes to be sent to the EMAIL on file. This way the employees that need it can get it from the BUSINESS EMAIL on file instead of expecting someone to utilize their personal cell number for work security codes.

All I use Clover for is printing reports, and suddenly being forced to use 2 step verification using my phone. Would like option to use 2 step verification using the email address they already have on file, was told no.

Two-factor authentication should be OPTIONAL! We have multiple people who need to access the Clover dashboard. Every time the two-factor is reactivated people are left waiting around for the code and of course work is delayed.

This 2 step process is a disaster, We take numerous CC payments through computer and now we have to do a 2 step authentication to a cell phone???? We don't have a office cell phone and there's no option to bypass it or have it sent to an email or office phone?????? This needs to be fixed ASAP, I can't imagine that anyone at an office is giving out their personal cell phone numbers to have an authentication code sent to their phone each time we log into clover.

This page describes the ability to use an authentication app for two-factor authentication. However, it is impossible for a new customer to reach their account page in the first place without using SMS.
Telephone help line was unable to help with this without first requiring SMS.
Please fix your website or train your staff how to allow use of an authentication app WITHOUT requiring SMS 2FA first.

Two factor authentication is great, but it has to work. Having a US company being managed outside the US does not allow for authentication by SMS to work. E-Mail is much better.

Agreed! I currently don't have a working cell phone and therefore am not able to access my Clover system. I can't get past the pop up screen that requires turning on 2-step verification. When I called from a landline I was told that is the only option and I have to set it up to access the account for security reasons. I can't access my own account! How am I supposed to conduct business? There has to be another option that doesn't require me to have a functional cell service. Anything - email, whatsapp, something else is a necessary alternative that uses internet instead of cell service.
