After reviewing the request, we believe the current behavior is aligned with the purpose of the "Group Identical Items Together" setting. The goal of this feature is to help kitchen and expo staff quickly understand the total quantity of an item that needs to be prepared or assembled. Separating identical items by guest would significantly reduce the value of grouping and introduce additional visual clutter, especially for larger parties.

In Expo mode, guest information is still preserved alongside grouped items, so guest context is available when needed without sacrificing the efficiency benefits of consolidated quantities.

From a workflow perspective, Clover KDS is designed to be primarily item-centric, helping staff focus on what needs to be prepared and served. Grouping by guest would shift the experience toward a guest-centric view and create inconsistent behavior between Kitchen and Expo modes.

For these reasons, we don't believe the proposed change would improve the overall KDS workflow and are inclined to keep the current behavior as designed. We do appreciate the feedback and will continue to monitor customer demand and usage patterns in this area.
