Sub Modifiers
When programming a menu for a full service restaurant. We need Sub Modifiers!!
Lets say the Item is Spaghetti that comes with choice of soup or salad.
Right now the modifier has to read: Every kind of soup and every kind of salad option.
It would be nice if a modifier was able to be programed that said "soup" and then "salad".
Then SUB modifiers would come up. IF Salad was selected all the salad dressings would be listed in the sub modifier. If soup was selected all of the soup options would come up in the sub modifier.
This is currently slated as part of our 2024 roadmap.
We are looking forward to bringing you this feature.
Thank you

We have competing POS systems that have as many modifier levels you want, and they prompt, and no, it isn't yet another modifier group you have to scroll through, it walks the server through the natural conversational ordering process. One is on Windows, one is on iOS. At this point as we approach 2023, I have to ask the question: is it Android, or is it that Clover just doesn't want to commit the resources to provide this basic functionality for ALL Table Service Restaurants? If you can't do this, how can we honestly claim to compete with the ones that did commit their resources to get it right?
Please PLEASE get this feature worked out! -

Inventory App - The ability to restrict or add modifiers based on other modifiers already selected. For example, to have a Size modifier that will enable different choices based on the size selected.

Many full service restaurants have large menus with MANY categories or they have the same item in their dinner and lunch menu but at different prices and/or portions. In clover, this results in FAR too many categories for a server to easily navigate. It would be great to have another layer of "sub-categorization" in the Clover Inventory. This can be to identify meal period (breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) or to separate out a bar menu from a food menu. I've lost many merchants to Toast for this specific feature.

This is a very popular request from merchants.

I don’t think that anyone from the clover design team has ever worked in a large restaurant

We need a modifier for a MODIFIER, so this can be a Quantity
When can you add this -

Clover needs to have sub modifiers. Like if they select salsa , sub modifier would be hot , mild, extra hot

We are transitioning from another POS system and I should have asked if subcategories were available as an option. I just assumed that all POS systems had it as an option. Not sure why Clover does not allow this as an option. Going to be difficult to track historical comparisons on various product sales. This should be communicated to all users looking to convert to Clover.

Adding a modifier for an existing modifier with a drop down. For example modifier is egg and an additional modifier for type

I want modifiers to show when an option is selected from another modifier group. Example: I'm a coffee shop, I have a modifier group that shows options like 1 Shot, 2, Shot, etc. When one of those options is selected, I want the next modifier group to show, NOT to have ALL modifiers at once.

We would love the ability to dynamically show / require new modifiers based on other modifier selections. For example, right now we have two inventory items per sandwich -- 1) Sandwich 2) Sandwich + Combo. Option 2 includes modifiers for type of drink and type of chips. We would like to condense the two buttons down to one "Sandwich", with a modifier for the combo. If the combo modifier is selected, it would pop-up two new (required) modifiers for the selection of the drink and chips.
If we did this now, the Chips & Drink modifiers could not be marked as required because the system does not know if the Combo modifier (used to add the up-charge) has been selected. So a cashier could accidentally give away chips & a drink without charging for the Combo, or could do the opposite and charge for a combo without selecting the drink or chips. Additionally, for Clover Online Orders, this could allow a user to add chips & a drink with no charge for the combo, which obviously shouldn't be possible.

Most other POS systems I've worked with do this. For example, I want my staff to be able to choose Alc Drinks as the category, have the sub category options be Draft Beer, Bottled Beer, WIne, Mixed Drinks, then Items be the list of bottled beers etc optional so that way I can still input cost and it will track, but also be able to make and assign modifiers (helpful for mixed drinks).

This would be amazing. A sub-modifier and possibly a secondary sub-modifier would make it perfect for our kitchen. Our menu has a few things that get pretty intrecate in how much a customer can choose, and options for the options that they make. However putting it all up as separate items and then adding modifiers takes more time for wait staff to find what could have been condensed and prompted where as the way we have to set it up has them forgetting to ask customer the secondary or third option that we need to complete the order properly. So they have to go back to the customer and ask them, and it makes it to where we are wasting time in the kitchen and become backed up. Time is money and having those sub-modifiers would help us save a lot of time so in turn helping us make more money.

This should be an good idea for restaurants and coffee shops when they are hooking up to most of rewards app that need the sizes as an Item instead of a modifier.

Please add the option for Sub-Modifiers. For example: You choose the main Item, Modifier for which side comes up, say salad is an option, that is chosen, then a Sub-Modifier for that particular choice prompts which dressing.

In restaurants, there is often the need to put a modifier on top of another modifier. For instance, a customer orders meal combo that comes with a soup or salad. Once the server chooses "Salad," he or she should be able to now choose the dressing type (without having to add the dressing mod group to the meal item). I'm seeing this done in other competitor systems such as Toast and Cake... and it appears that the easiest way to do this would to be able to have a "Modifier" also be an "Item" in the Clover inventory. When this modifier is chosen, (because it is also an item), its modifier groups pop up for selection.
