Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. Allow merchants to have the option to hide an entire category from the register during a specific period of time. The merchant does not want the employees to see the lunch special category at all in the register outside of lunch hours and vice versa for dinner hours or breakfast. This could be an enhancement for the Happy Hours app or a newly built app altogether.

  2. In Register App: Merchant wants app to show a notification advising when an item is scanned but it's not in the inventory for Employee roles that cannot add items. Merchant explains that in fast-paced retail environments most employees listen for the beep and move on. This notification would help ensure orders are scanned accurately.

  3. We need the ability to restrict discounts on certain items such as Alcohol..on both on order level discount and an item level discount. Our coupons offer % and flat amount discounts that exclude alcohol. We need the ability to select an order level discount and only have the non-alcohol items receive the discount..Thanks

  5. Using The Reorganize Modifiers master list is complicated. When each inventory item is set up, we should be able to select the specific order of modifiers for each item for an easy flow, and thus less scrolling up and down, on the clover dining app. This is important when using the Clover Flex as there is too much wasted time scrolling up and down to find pertinent modifiers. I have even tried using a numerical system to override the alphabetize system, and it doesn’t necessarily work all the time. Each inventory item has a unique flow when placing an order…

  7. Bottle/Can Deposits automatically added to selected inventory items

    In most cash register systems, when you sell a bottled or canned beverage that has a bottle deposit, the system can automatically add a bottle deposit (or multiple deposits, for a 12-pack, for example) to the item or order. Clover does not have a way to do this currently.

    You can create custom modifiers and assign them to an item, which is a work-around. However, this is imperfect because it requires additional user interaction for each item (you have to select the modifier and then press done - two extra touches, potential…

  9. Would like to be able to see the total number of items that have have been scanned. For example, if fifty items have been scanned, it should show 50 somewhere on the screen.

  10. Requesting to be able to adjust or edit Orders after they have been paid. Mistakes happen where the wrong tender or item could have been selected. For instances like that, Admins should be able to make corrections when necessary, regardless if the Order is Paid or not... especially while the customer is still present and the batch is open.

  11. Merchant would like the ability to change the order of items with variants within the inventory application during creation or have it create the order by the order in which she creates the variants.

    Currently, you can only reorganize within the categories that the items are added to.

  16. Merchant wants to know if there is a way to switch the categories tab on the spreadsheet to a column in the items tab so that he could just add all the items under it in one tab.

  18. Merchant wants a option that when she presses category, inside category there is a custom item option when pressing that option that custom item goes under that category. Which Merchant needs this option because they have several vendors that they sell for, merchant has them set by category, And sells different things for those vendors.

  19. It would be great to have fields added to the clover excel import sheet that can express the relationships between items with variants.

    Currently, if "Items with Variants" are added to an inventory, that inventory cannot be exported and then re-imported back during an inventory audit process. The "items with variant" relationship between multiple items cannot be expressed with the current Excel import model.

  20. When you export inventory to edit via Excel, you cannot delete Items/Categories/Modifiers/Labels and have that information delete when you import it back into Clover. This takes a significant amount of time to go through via the dashboard and delete everything here instead
