There are a lot of ways to take a payment. Provide your ideas to help advance Clover’s payments acceptance process here. We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Virtual Terminal: Provide all feedback on the Virtual Terminal in this category. How can we make this solution more useful for merchants?

2. Refunds/Exchanges: If you have any feedback on Clover’s refund or exchange functions please let us know here.

3. Recurring Payments: Share your thoughts on accepting recurring payments here. Tell us how we can improve.

4. Invoicing: Is there any functionality that can be added to our systems to enhance the invoicing feature? Put your ideas in this forum category.

5. Voids: How can we make voiding a transaction easier and simpler? Tell us your suggestions to improve this payment feature.

  1. Allow a pop up box to type it after applying a custom discount (and/or allow it to be an option selected as a prompt when creating a discount in the discount app) to type in the reason for the discount.

    •If I do a custom 15% off, I want employees/manager to type in why ie "Side was cold".

    •If I create a discount named "Bar Comp" and it’s a standard 100% comp, I want a prompt for employees to put in a reason ie "Tonic was flat in customers Gin & Tonic"

  3. Service Charge Percentage should be applied to total BEFORE discounts.

    ie. Situation: 18% auto gratuity for parties larger than 6 people

    Currently if a discount is applied to the order, the 18% service charge is calculated based on the DISCOUNTED TOTAL. It should be calculated on the TOTAL BEFORE DISCOUNT.

  4. We offer discounts to many customers, but not all items (such as already on-sale items) are discount eligible. We need to be able to mark certain items (through a label or checkbox) as ineligible for discount so that order discounts will be calculated without them.

  5. Allow merchants to comp (give away a free meal) in the register app. This will allow merchants to track any food that is given away for free. With every comp ask for a reason why the meal was comped.

  6. Be able to make customer groups and automatically apply discounts that you set for each group

    ex: Label certain customers as "military" or "employee" and automatically give discount specified to each customer type/group

  9. Merchant wants for Clover to automatically add discount when sale items are scanned (BOGO items etc)

    For "2 for 1 discounts" wants the device to be able to save duplicate SKUs (different products)

  11. For cash discounting we need to increase all menu prices by 4% but then if someone pays with cash we need to implement a 3.846% discount to the entire order for everything to equal out.

  16. need an option to discount when purchasing multiple items. for example, circle K offers a single gatorade at $1.79. however, if the customer purchases 2 gatorades, the system knows that if they purchase 2 gatorades it will charge a total of $2.50 total for both. this is the same for tons of items within the store. the barcode scanner needs to be able to distinguish which items receive a discount without extra steps. i have lost 2 merchants to Square because they offer this and we do not. really need a solution to compete with C-Stores

  17. I want the option to apply discounts on specific items or categories for a specified date range and have it available to everyone
    (no loyalty, coupons, etc, just a plain old sale for whoever walks in my store). Similar to happy hour app, but be able to choose a date range to run the promotion,

    Ex: 10% off accessories this week

    (have it apply automatically so that i don't have to manually discount every accessory that someone buys)

  18. Merchant would like to be able to set up a tiered discount where the more the customer buys of an items the price goes down and also would like the customers to be able to put in their phone number on customer facing device to keep track of orders for customers instead of going through customers app.

  19. Using the discounts app be able to have a specific discount but choose a variable amount. Essentially custom discount amount but have a set category so it’s traceable.
