We hear you loud and clear, and agree that this has been important product gap for far too long. So, we've kicked off an effort to build support for smart tipping to our product. If any of you would like to provide feedback on our user interface design, or be a beta tester, please let us know.

This smart tips feature would double or triple tips for our staff. We do a lot of small transactions but also a good number of large transactions. Clover is the worst to use for our type business. Costing our staff a lot of tips.

This has statistically been shown to increase employee tips in counter service industries such as coffee shops where most single item transaction percentages fall below a single dollar amount.

Agreed. I manage a tattoo shop and customers are tipping on amounts that don't include their deposits for tattoos, sometimes leaving my artists with a $4 tip on a $200 tattoo.

Hello Clover
You must add the $ amount and or % option on clover devices or else small businesses will keep moving to Square. Including us. -

Hi Clover,
Should I just move to square and pay a bit more money for this feature? Why can't this tip selection be implemented? It's been years now. What is going on?!?!?

Chris commented
I agree, this should be implemented ASAP

We need more than one Grat Button! We need 3 but 2 would be nice! 15% 18% 20%
or make it open so servers can put the % in -

Yes I absolutly want that too... I think I am going to change to square for that reason

We need an open grat button or 2 more buttons!!! We need to charge a to go grat for 15% and 18% for parties of 6 or more and 20% for parties of 20 or more.

this feature will greatly benefit coffee shops, bars/tap houses, and butchers, driving up tip amounts to an even dollar or two on 1 to 2 drink orders, and where it doesn't make sense to tip 15% on larger transactions, like $100 worth of meat (which is still wrapped up, maybe trimmed, or otherwise processed in a way that customers want the opportunity to tip).

PLEASE UPDATE!! Dollar amounts opposed to percentages make so much more sense for our business.

Hi there. I'm the store manager at El Diablo Coffee Co. I am emailing in regards to how Clover is impacting my employee's daily tips. We switched to Clover on January 29, and since then, we've seen an overall decrease in tips. I have been directed by Clover Support to leave my request here.
With Square, after a transaction less than $20, the software suggested $1, $2, or $3 for tip amounts. Alternatively, customers could enter a custom amount if they wished. If the transaction was over $20, the software would then suggest 15%, 20%, or 25%, maximizing tips for bigger transactions.
I am asking for a change in suggested tip amount to follow the algorithm Square used. If a translation is over $20, display suggested percentage, but if below $20, suggest a dollar amount.

Suggesting numbers are indeed a better, because more concrete, way for the client to be generous -and avoid overtipping remorse, by the way, when the client taps on a percentage and it turns out that percentage is way more than she meant to spend.Clover, please allow the client to tip a visible number and be happy with it. Square understands that beautifully: why not CLOVER? I also think presentigng the tip screen to the client's notice even before she is asked to place her card in the slot is confusing to her and crass. Please, Clover engineers, switch that "tip" screen after the "place your card in the slot" screen. Let the client time to think and not feel *******!

Fantastic idea! Merchants can make more money this way. Consumers are more likely to pick $1 or $2 as oppose to high percentages.

Given the recent mass exodus of small shops from Square, Clover should escalate this update to extremely URGENT. Baristas depend on tipping, and the current tip defaults provided in Clover are not sufficient. CLOVER: Simply change from percent defaults to Dollar amounts! Square provided that for us years ago.

This is easily the most voted idea in this section. When will clover update the tip selection to include dollar amounts? Coffee shops need this! Please update. I've been asking for a couple years now and I am so glad theres an overwhelming amount of voters who agree.
