Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. On the Clover Dining app, we need the ability to HOLD an item from ever getting printed in the kitchen. Sometimes, we rush into the kitchen to get the item or had already asked verbally the kitchen staff to make it, we don't want to print it again, hence, we hold it on the POS.

  2. For merchants that own or operate more than one location selling the same products or services, it would be beneficial to have one place where an administrator can update menus/items from one dashboard for all locations, so that the merchant can quickly and easily facilitate opening a new location, or enacting menu/inventory changes that impact multiple locations.

  3. The newest update to the inventory is very difficult to bulk edit multiple items. For example, I have 3k items in my inventory, and I want to delete 500 of them. I have to click through and hit "show more" which only displays 25 items additionally at a time which takes a very long time. This is extremely time consuming and inconvenient. Previously we could select and display up to over 900 items at a time to make changes or edits to. It would be nice to have that option again. This makes it difficult to delete and manage inventory.

  4. When you create a new category can we implement a color for the category? Default it to white with like 25 colors to pick from and then make that category button that color. It is a lot easier for the eye to relate to a color when in a hurry then having to read. Not to mention all of our competitors can color code buttons.

  5. It was brought to my attention that a 10 location restaurant group would prefer to use Clover but has to use Toast because Clover doesn't have the capability of picking a modifier with another modifier to pop up once the first modifier was picked. This is important because if a Kabob restaurant has a combo plate where the customer gets to pick 2 sides. So the customer picks a greek salad and Hummus. There should then be a modifier that then would allow the employee to click on no onion and cheese on the salad but Clover doesn't allow for…

  6. When using the scheduled order feature, create a threshold with an extra prep time buffer or alert for larger orders. Concern is that with the order ahead functionality, restaurant may not see the large order in advance to adequately prepare and/or disrupt the day's production line.

  7. I want to be able to cashout the order of a guest and that the orders of the other guests remain open under clover Dinning. Right now it's not convenient for me, because many clients want to keep ordering but when a guest wants to leave, there is only the option to split the payment but you have to close the entire order.

  10. The merchant request that the size of the paper is changed,
    Here are the merchants comments

    1. The receipt for the regular Credit Card for the merchant copy is 8 inches long is double from the other vendors Receipt length. 2- the Customer copy for the regular Credit Card is about 5.5 inches long the other vendors receipt length is 3 3/4 inches.

    3- On the end of the day when the time come to close the day the
    summary/detail report is about 2.5 to 3 feet long depend from the day of the week. Normal will be 8-14 inches.

  11. It would be great if there was a way to transfer all the tables in a section, and/or all of the bar and more tabs. This would really help my staff when we are switching over to the night bartender from the day, as well as when servers have been cut.

  12. Adding labels on the clover device take two long I have to add it one by one . If I have categories set up already I should be able to go under labels and select items to add to my label based on category . If I already have a category that everything is for food that go to the kitchen I should be able to go to labels and select that category and create a kitchen printer label with the category.

  13. On the Bar and More screen, when a manager logs in they can see all open tabs. If they are looking for a specific server's tab, they are unable to easily locate it.

    The tabs should be grouped by server, have the server's name at the top of the square, or have a unique color arcoss the top of the tab and group colors together.

    As of now, there is no easy way to locate a tab on the Bar and More screen when you have a lot of them open.

  14. With the Tables app, you can release a table into Open Orders when there are still items on the Order.

    There is no function for that currently. Occasionally, we need to release a table just to move forward when we are busy.

    With Clover Dining, you have to remove all the items and then audit removed items at the end of the day to prevent theft.

  15. An integration with Open Table could make the Clover ecosystem very strong. There are many small-medium sized businesses that subscribe to this service and would like to have it integrated in with their clover system.

  16. With Dining and Register...busy restaurants need the ability to send cancellation tickets to the kitchen. Please make this another button within each item (within the existing order). Further, this has to go to the order printer/KDS only...it should NOT appear on the customer's bill!

  18. There needs to be a quick button for naming a bar tab. Using the notes function isn't an efficient use of time and time is money when you're trying to knock back a line of thirsty customers. Please Fix.

  19. Inventory should be easier. Every year I have to add each item cost up for an Inventory. There should at least be a report we can run. We put cost and retail prices in for a reason.
