Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. Would like to be able to allow a guest to use two forms of payments in Clover Dining. Currently if you pay by guest, it makes the guest make the whole payment.

  2. In Clover Dining, a table wants to order something to-go. It would be very nice to be able to touch that item and click a 'To-Go' button so taxes are removed from that item and at the same time notify the cook via order receipt that it is to go so the item is boxed and not plated.

  4. Merchant would like for the names of guests to appear on the seat locations in the Dining app. Example: Seat/Guest1 have an editable field for name.

  5. I inadvertently added a wrong item (i.e. a dinner portion rather than lunch) and fired it. We verbally corrected the item with the kitchen, and I deleted the item and re-rang it WITHOUT FIRING. However when I hit Pay at the end of the meal, it automatically fired that item and kitchen made it again.

  6. Using The Reorganize Modifiers master list is complicated. When each inventory item is set up, we should be able to select the specific order of modifiers for each item for an easy flow, and thus less scrolling up and down, on the clover dining app. This is important when using the Clover Flex as there is too much wasted time scrolling up and down to find pertinent modifiers. I have even tried using a numerical system to override the alphabetize system, and it doesn’t necessarily work all the time. Each inventory item has a unique flow when placing an order…

  9. we need something (maybe even in Clover Dining) that a restaurant can use for simple reservations. Clover can do so much at no additional cost to the merchant. Something this basic/simple really needs to also be available

  10. Bottle/Can Deposits automatically added to selected inventory items

    In most cash register systems, when you sell a bottled or canned beverage that has a bottle deposit, the system can automatically add a bottle deposit (or multiple deposits, for a 12-pack, for example) to the item or order. Clover does not have a way to do this currently.

    You can create custom modifiers and assign them to an item, which is a work-around. However, this is imperfect because it requires additional user interaction for each item (you have to select the modifier and then press done - two extra touches, potential…

  11. Merchant would like the ability to reassign a sale to another employee after the sale has been completed.

  13. Would like to be able to see the total number of items that have have been scanned. For example, if fifty items have been scanned, it should show 50 somewhere on the screen.

  15. Merchant would like the option to be able to create and delete a variant item from the dashboard. Merchant can only create and delete the variant items with attributes from the Clover device.

  16. Requesting the ability to use Clover Dining in Cashier mode. This would allow a cashier to collect payments for the servers and subtract the credit card tips from the "cash due" in the Payments report.

  17. FSR's have shown me their receipts from their previous systems, and have all asked for something to be changed on our order receipts which I cannot do:
    - font sizes/bolding/color
    - horizontal lines between guests or courses on an order (our receipts do not clearly differentiate between one guest/course and another -and it's easy for a cook to miss something)
    - the ability to change a header/sub-header that must print (whether under an individual guest, or the whole table...Appetizers as a prominent head/category, then the item below, then "Entrees" and so forth)

  19. Requesting to be able to adjust or edit Orders after they have been paid. Mistakes happen where the wrong tender or item could have been selected. For instances like that, Admins should be able to make corrections when necessary, regardless if the Order is Paid or not... especially while the customer is still present and the batch is open.
