Management Functions

Welcome to the feedback forum for Clover Management Functions. Please share your ideas for how we can update our Clover management software to help merchants run their business simply and easily. Specifically, this forum should only include ideas surrounding built in management functions (feedback on business management apps should be included in the Apps/App Marketplace forum). We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Clover Dashboard Functionality: Share your thoughts on how the Clover Dashboard as a whole can function more effectively. 

2. Restaurant Menus and Clover Dining: Share your thoughts on all functions that specifically have to do with Clover Dining such as Clover’s built-in menu creation feature.

3. E-Commerce Management/Clover Online Ordering: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers e-commerce management software including Clover Online Ordering.

4. Inventory/Order Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers inventory management software.

5. Receipt Management: Provide ideas related to order receipts here including kitchen receipts, customer receipts and merchant copies. Tell us how Clover can enhance the processing of, information on, and appearance of various types of receipts.

6. Employee Management: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

7. Software Plans: Here you can provide feedback on Clover’s software plans. Please specify which plan your idea is featuring (Table Service Restaurants, Counter Service Restaurants, Register, Essentials, Payments).

  1. Merchant would like to filter orders by tax rate. That way it is easier to determine which transactions and orders have which tax applied to them to ensure rules by order type is working.

  2. As a restaurant operator I find it absolutely horrifying and an immense oversight that my employees can process transactions under their own credentials without being clocked in. As a result, these transactions do not appear on the shifts report, but do appear in both the transactions and reporting apps. We hold our credit card tips, as such the employees rely on the shifts report in order to determine how much card tip they are owed and how much cash they must turn in to the house (their total cash sales).

  3. With online ordering, we can printing items to kitchen using the alternate name but cannot do so with modifiers? That is a big issue for us because our alternate name is in Vietnamese and our kitchen staff cannot read English. I'm not sure why that was not developed when developing the online order since it prints fine when we enter the orders with items and modifiers with the devices.

  5. This option will allow multiple units of the same modifier option to be selected when ordering. Uber Eats already has this option.
    E.g. our family pack comes with 8 drinks and 3 appetizers. at the moment the customer can choose the options they want but not the quantity. for example the can choose Diet Coke and Fanta which will result in us sending them 4 of each, If the want 2 Diet Cokes and 6 Fanta, they will have to write a note which is inconvenient.

With the direct integration to Clover for Grubhub, Doordash, UberEats, the menu on these third party platforms will be cleared and replaced with their Clover Menu... specifically the items enabled for Clover Online Ordering. This means that their in order to use this integration, a merchant would have to list the same prices as their direct online ordering page. Most merchants have their own online ordering page populated with lower prices than the ones on third party platforms in order to protect their bottom line.   7. Please add "brand" column or feature. Right now our retail business uses "printer label" as brand because we do not need to print orders to a kitchen and we need something to account for the many brands that we sell. For whatever reason, when adding a new product, the "pinter label" options are not alphabetical. This is very annoying because we have almost 100 brands that we have to scroll through to find the right one.

  8. Please make the Employee filter in reporting searchable. Merchants (Taxis) may have 600 employees to drop down through...needs to be a searchable field.

  9. Parent Items with Variants should show as single items (and not list all variants).

    Parent Items with Variants should be allowed to be assigned to sales categories and reordered like other items within that category. Presently parent items with variants only show in 'all items'.

    Order UI / Flow - When a parent item with variants is touched, the options within each variant should show (just like multiple modifier groups would), allowing the clerk to choose a single option within each variant group that results in adding the correct sales item to the order (receipt pane).

  11. Restaurants need stock counts to have an option to decrease inventory when item is fired, not when item is paid. There should be a check box under the stock quantity section that will allow stock counts to automatically decrease when items are fired.

  12. The inventory we have for sale are sometimes used for jobs as well, I need to be able to deduct inventory at cost so that profit will not be reported.
    Either I need an item specific discount or a modifier that can be negative.

    Also, what's up with no low quantity alert and no inventory report? We need low quantity alert to see when we need to order new inventory. And we need inventory reports to evaluate how each item in the inventory is selling.

  13. A log is critical for Clover Dining, similar to tables. Who opened the order, time opened, Changes (e.g. Add burger time, add drink times) , time order was fired, ...basic internal controls. Even half of this would be beneficial. It is difficult, even with cameras to track the sequence of POS activity when things go wrong. Process improvement and theft prevention.

  14. I'm at the corporate office and have 40+ Clover locations. It is difficult to deal with Clover support. First of all, the staff isn't well trained. I've actually called with the same issue and have gotten different answers. We've had 3 escalated tickets within the last couple months closed with no resolution. I tried to respond to the email with screenshots to find out that you cannot respond to the email from the escalation team. I had to call to reopen the tickets.   16. I have bottle deposits listed as one of the tax rates (I do not see another way to do deposits). Now we have 12 different tax rates. (See Below).

  17. Clover online ordering does not work on:
    MacOS Venture 13.5.1
    Chrome Version 116.0.5845.140 (Official Build) (x86_64)

    It allows the user to add items to the cart, but the cart will not open and there is no way to complete the order. As a work around, I can open Safari and re-enter my entire order. This has been a problem for at least a year.

  18. For takeaway orders in the UK, there are different VAT rules to eat-in orders. We need the ability to force the takeaway Section in the Dining App to use a different order type to that used in the Seated Sections. The ability to select it in the Register App means that the wrong order type can be selected; which has implications in assigning the correct VAT treatment to the items ordered.
