Welcome to the Clover Restaurant Forum.  You're here because you are a Clover Restaurant merchant and would like to submit ideas that you feel would enhance/improve Clover's current offerings in the Restaurant space. 

In order to submit your idea you'll need to give it a Title then select the Category that best matches your idea.  Below are brief descriptions of the Clover Restaurant Categories.

Clover Dining: Ideas related to table management and the Clover Dining experience.

Employees: Please include all your feedback and suggestions for enhancing Clovers employee management software. This includes permissions, viewing and editing employee roles, employee satisfaction, scheduling, owner access and more. If you have tipping suggestions, please include these ideas in the Tipping category of the Taking Payments forum.

Engagement: Share your thoughts on Clover’s built-in software that allows businesses to manage customers including viewing/storing customer information.
Clover GO: Clover GO is a mobile POS system designed for businesses that need to accept payments on the go.

Hardware: Ideas related to Clover hardware in the Restaurant space

  1. Until around mid-April 2024, it was possible to view a tips breakdown in the Employee Sales report on the Clover POS devices. The total tip amount for each employee was broken down into "DoorDash Dasher tips" and "Employee tips". "DoorDash Dasher tips" are tips left by customers for online orders delivered through DoorDash Drive, while "Employee tips" are tips actually received by the employee for dine-in orders. It is no longer possible to view this information on the Clover device itself, and accessing the Dashboard is now the only way to view the tips breakdown. I am not sure why…

  3. The chime that plays when an order is fired to the KDS is not loud enough. We turned up all the volume settings in the settings app, and with a noisy kitchen, it is very hard to hear. In some spots of the kitchen, I can't hear it at all. There also should be a way to change the type of chime that plays. Some chimes are easier to hear. I noticed in the settings app, you can change the chime type for notifications, but you cant for orders that fire to the KDS. Very disappointing. Hope its an easy…

  4. When adding descriptions for online items if you type anymore than 60 characters the description flows into the space between items. You can use even less characters if your item name is long or you add a picture. For ease of reading while on a mobile device the constraints in which a description can fit per item would ideally be increased. Or font sizing would help to mitigate this. Is this something that is in the works of implementing?

  5. From the register icon, if you choose delivery the prompt for address and telephone number should automatically pop up. There is never a time that you will choose delivery and not need the address. For restaurants that have younger employees-if they forget to ask for address information it creates big problems to retrieve that information.

  6. The URL's on Clover receipts are so bad. I run into vendors so often that have HTTPS://WWW.NONE.COM/ -- why bother displaying that?!

    Why bother displaying HTTPS://WWW or the slash at the end of the URL?

    Can't it just be "restaurant.ca" or "RESTAURANT.CA" instead of HTTPS://WWW.RESTAURANT.CA/"?

    I've even seen receipts where the URL is split across two lines like this:

    "HTTPS://SOMETHINGCOFFEE.COM
    /"

    There's gotta be a better way. The HTTPS is not essential. The WWW is only essential in RARE situations, as the browser will almost always attempt to add the www if browsing to the TLD doesn't work.…

  8. Most of the top level restaurant per terminals have the ability to press a button to add or remove and that will bring up a pop-up option for different add-ons. This is what we need.

I have had a few restaurants that have bars included in the restaurant, and they would like to be able to have customization options on printing seats and the layout of the menu as far as categories based upon whether the device is at the bar or the devices in the restaurant we need to be able to differentiate the layout of the menu from one device to the other and we also need to be able to decide whether or not we want smart tipping or tip at the device as opposed to tip on the receipt between the…

  11. NEED Tips at end of day to decipher between tips for food and regular beverages and tips for bar orders..

    So servers can tip bar on bar items handled "WITHOUT" giving bar tips on "Entire" food order ( food they serve should not be portion of tip that goes to bartender)

    NEED simpler way at the end of the day to see breakout by employee for bar tip versus food tip portion for total tips

    Ie;
    Days orders came to $1,000

    $200 of order was bar

    $800 of order was food and beverage

    Tip is 20% of the total ticket

  12. I would like to be able to adjust each section and where it appears on the ticket. I own an elixir bar, which is like a coffee shop, and I do not want the table information on the top of the ticket; I like the customer's information on the ticket, and I would like to be able to make the customer's name bold so that it stands out.

  13. We would like to be able to ask the customer for a name and use that as the ticket number. Instead of just calling out numbers when orders are ready, we would like to call out their name.

    The feature to add their name to the ticket currently just auto adds the name on the credit card and it's a little weird. Also we're not trying to take down all their information and add them to the system. We would just like a simple name on each order. Please and Thank you!

  15. solo station needs to have contactless payments - its inconvenient for the merchant and servers to not use their employee cards or fingerprint without the ability to run cards that are contactless. its forcing them to get a 3 piece equipment where it takes space but also no finger printer read or employee card reader, where servers can memorize the number by a look and have access to the terminal. this has happened with several restaurants

  16. Owner needs to be able to manage users and their permissions. User list should show users already created at individual locations. The permissions need to override those at the individual location. This prevents or allows individual locations to edit menus.

  17. The primary Multi-Location user needs full grouping and group editing capabilities. For example, 17 open MIDs under one ISO with 3 MIDs in New York, 13 MIDs in Miami and 1 MID in Orlando. The user only sees 1 group titled by the MID of the HQ account with the chain code.
    so rather than
    x1234 (17) >
    the user can edit
    (no HQ or other non-processing accounts)
    (no closed accounts)
    (no accounts from non A1 Payment Processing)
    A1 Payment Processing (17) > (changes override all changes)
    Miami (13) > (changes only affect Miami MIDs)
    New York (3) > changes…

  18. Need the ability to re-order the modifier groups within the item. It's too difficult to re-order all of the modifiers for each item if the merchant has 30+ modifier groups. For example the merchant needs the required modifiers to show before the others in the item.
