Taking Payments

There are a lot of ways to take a payment. Provide your ideas to help advance Clover’s payments acceptance process here. We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!


1. Virtual Terminal: Provide all feedback on the Virtual Terminal in this category. How can we make this solution more useful for merchants?

2. Refunds/Exchanges: If you have any feedback on Clover’s refund or exchange functions please let us know here.

3. Recurring Payments: Share your thoughts on accepting recurring payments here. Tell us how we can improve.

4. Invoicing: Is there any functionality that can be added to our systems to enhance the invoicing feature? Put your ideas in this forum category.

5. Voids: How can we make voiding a transaction easier and simpler? Tell us your suggestions to improve this payment feature.

  3. Merchant needs the ability for a PIN debit transaction to allow for the addition of a tip or the ability to turn off PIN entry on the Station. Merchant has many online PIN debit card transactions which do not produce a tip line.

  4. I had old clover base station. It has Manual Transaction app on it.
    But, I bought new base station 2018. I went to app market to find and
    install. It not available.
    My restaurant still using old system to print bill. Then enter manually
    each transaction to charge for customers. With old base station was
    perfect. But newest base doesn’t have?
    Please make it! Now newest base station take to much time to do custom
    order and charge each time.

  7. Its great that clover will still collect payment information to charge when it goes back online -- but if it turns on the card didn't work for some reason then you're out of luck.

    Please have it so that if someone is choosing the credit card option while the system is offline that contact information must be entered in order to complete the transaction.

  8. Change the tips section to pop up after the card has been run and before the signature.

    Or at least give the option to change the order.

    People are trained to hand their cards to the person behind the register and if its a card that swipes I have to just awkardly hold on to their card until they figure out the tip page.

    It's not intuitive the way its currently set up

  9. When processing transactions offline, and once online and transactions decline, should be an option to retry the transaction in the clover

  10. Merchants should get a warning when either the zip code or the address number does not match with the AVS service. This message should happen on any phone order or manual transaction prior to completing the sale. The merchant should then have the opportunity to either accept or decline the transaction (void) because of the possibility of fraud. As it is now in Clover, the merchant may not catch the fact the AVS failed especially since it does not print on the receipt.   12. Allow customer receipts to print and display multiple tax rates (i.e. State Tax & Municipal Tax) to meet requirements that are mandated in certain states/territories.

  13. As a Clover merchant with an average order size of $5 or less I need the ability to set tip suggestions using whole dollar amounts instead of amounts based on percentage of the order so that I can encourage my customers to leave a slightly higher tip.

  14. As a Clover merchant I need the ability to refund a partial set of items on an order with many items AFTER the order has been paid (but before the payment card batch) so that if a customer changes their mind I can easily refund part of the entire order.
