There are a lot of ways to take a payment. Provide your ideas to help advance Clover’s payments acceptance process here. We are listening and we use this feedback to prioritize our roadmap.


Here are quick descriptions of each category so that you can easily locate and post ideas in the correct place!

  1. I want the option to apply discounts on specific items or categories for a specified date range and have it available to everyone
    (no loyalty, coupons, etc, just a plain old sale for whoever walks in my store). Similar to happy hour app, but be able to choose a date range to run the promotion,

    Ex: 10% off accessories this week

    (have it apply automatically so that i don't have to manually discount every accessory that someone buys)

  2. Merchant runs a carwash and would like an enhancement that would allow them to charge tax as part of the total instead of it added on - without employees having to calculate this

  3. Merchants are requesting the option to reprint the CC receipt with the tip after the tip is adjusted. Many restaurants audit the customers hand written tip adjustment at checkout to make sure no errors were made when adjusting tips.

  4. We have an issue when issuing a manual refund to a customer without a receipt, there's no way to attach a generic item or specific item to it. Why can't I scan an item or attach a item in the inventory to it? We're in retail and that would make sense. Reporting is very off because of this problem.

  5. Customer comes in to return item but would like to purchase a new different item. Customer would like to only pay difference versus having a refund credited & then purchase the new item for the full amount.

  7. Allow a pop up box to type it after applying a custom discount (and/or allow it to be an option selected as a prompt when creating a discount in the discount app) to type in the reason for the discount.

    •If I do a custom 15% off, I want employees/manager to type in why ie "Side was cold".

    •If I create a discount named "Bar Comp" and it’s a standard 100% comp, I want a prompt for employees to put in a reason ie "Tonic was flat in customers Gin & Tonic"

  8. Is there a way to save the customer's credit card info whenever they make a purchase? Merchant has a small business and her customers are repeat, so having the card info on hand in the records (even if it only shows the last 4 digits) would be very convenient. She could just pull up the records and select the card she wishes to use when the customer comes in again.

  9. It is very awkward, presumptive, and feels like bad manners to hand the Clover Flex device to a customer after a spa service and the first and only thing they see is the tip screen. Sometimes customers appear to be taken aback by this as tips are supposed to be a gratuity (not expected as I was always taught) By handing them the device with that tip screen as their first interaction with processing their payment, it is startling. I believe that having the signature line on the same screen as the tip screen is more polite and encouraging because…

  10. Apparently all automotive merchants (according to this merchant) utilize Mitchell 1 Software in their industry. I recommend Clover integrates with it to offer the ability to process transactions as he said their pricing is extremely high and they don't have options. Just a thought.

    Mitchell 1 could integrate with our Semi-Integrated solutions to offer it to Clover merchants. An integration initiated from our side does not align with our current priorities.

  11. Service Charge Percentage should be applied to total BEFORE discounts.

    ie. Situation: 18% auto gratuity for parties larger than 6 people

    Currently if a discount is applied to the order, the 18% service charge is calculated based on the DISCOUNTED TOTAL. It should be calculated on the TOTAL BEFORE DISCOUNT.

  12. Refunding debit manually does not link to the order that was refunded. This can be financially impacting to merchants customers can potentially request additional refunds to the same order which will reflect. An option for cash refund should be listed on Debit transactions. Work around for manual refunds is to leave a note on the order to illustrate it was refunded.

    This would require Clover to create a relatively complex store credit function that tracks store credit for a merchants customers. Unfortunately, we have no plans to do this.

  17. A typical merchant that does counter sales and delivery such as a pizza restaurant, wants to have the tip suggest at the counter but have the ability to do tip adjust after the auth for the delivery tickets. The CC is run before the delivery and they bring the receipt back with a tip on it. Currently the only option is 100% at the counter or 100% after the sale.

  18. Merchant would like to be able to have a quick sale option for a parking garage. Merchant wants to be able to have customer insert/swipe card and the device to automatically have a predetermined amount; also would like to be able to hit the option of CASH when customer has cash instead of choosing the amount of cash.

    Once the order is refund you can not reopen the order for payment. So can we have a function to copy closed or refunded orders to make it easier to processed these order so we do not need to manual recreate them.

  20. "All Done" prompt when the back button is selected on tip prompt.

    Customers have walked out by pressing the back button on the tip screen. The message is the same message that is prompted when a sale is done. It is very confusing and much harder to track the customer in a fast paced environment. Much like a busy bar or a night club.
